Carving a Pumpkin into a Christian

Watch and share this video.  It’s the quick 4 minute  version of the 30 minute “sermon” many of you have heard me do in churches where I have been.

A True and Real Friend

I learned about real friendship at a men’s gathering last week.  Sam, (a real friend of mine), was sharing with the guys how friendships are forged together.  [forge  – to make, especially by concentrated effort]  He explained that a true and real friendship needs to be consistent, connected, and transparent.

Friendship

Friendship

I see an example of friendship in these logs.  Each individual log has its own character marks, even flaws.  Each log has its own strengths, yet weak areas.  Each log is in its own position, some higher than others, but all important.  Yet, they are forged together.  Cut, whittled, placed, constructed, designed, molded, made to fit  engineered………..simply put, they have been forged.

.a tight bond

Why must friendships be forged?  To remain tight, bonded, permanent, true, and real.

The creator of this house forged these individual logs into something bigger and better.

Our Creator is forging us into something bigger and better.  John 15:15-16 says, “I no longer call you servants, (individual tree)….but I call you friends.  You did not choose me, but I chose you….(part of His log home)

Read the entire chapter of John 15.  Let God show you how to have and be a true friend.

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.       Henri Nouwen

Resting

Resting

Resting

This trophy is resting.  Resting from the ones that want to make him a trophy (the hunters).  He’s also resting from the ones he wants to be his trophy (his females)  I took this picture while traveling in Colorado yesterday.

This week I am resting.  Disconnected, no contact with the outside world.  Except to stop in the library here in Westcliffe. Colorado.  I wanted to connect with you.

I’m resting.  Did I say disconnected?  Yes, except from hearing from God.  Tuning out all the world’s happenings, seems to tune in God’s will and direction more clearly. Take time to rest with God. Spend a quiet time, your devotion time, your coffee time with just Him, or if possible, several days in the Colorado wilderness. He leads me to green pastures.  He restores my soul.  Psalms 23

I’m sure the worlds activities will be there when I get back.  Paying bills, everyday chores, AND I also heard about some football activities going on in Mississippi.  Word travels, even in the wilderness.  See YA!  Dan Ainsworth
