Proverbs 13:1
A wise son heeds his father’s instruction……
I’ve been blessed to have a righteous earthly father. Growing up on the farm, doing chores with him, hauling hay, feeding cattle and chickens all were opportunities for me to see him in action. “You’ll know what you are doing ,by the time you get through” is one of his “instructions’. What he was telling me is that if we wait until everything is done and just right, well, we will still be waiting. That helped me to realize that everything is a journey. Whether growing corn, or following God’s Will, we learn as we go. Keep going!

I’ve been thinking about those ‘coons, and here is what I have so far:
1. The ‘coons were just being “‘coons”. Plundering and raising havoc is what they do.
2. To prevent the raccoons from destroying what you have you can a) eradicate them, which is difficult, not to mention cruel, or b) do what you can to keep them out. Option b is the more realistic of the two.
My point is: if you let things in your life that will cause havoc and disorder, remember that this is their nature. If you let them in your life, that will be the result. Can you eradicate them? You might decrease their number, but I doubt you can realistically get rid of all of them. Then what can you do to keep them out, to “lock the front door”, so to speak? What does the Word say? Things like:
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9
22 “Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. 23 But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! Matthew 6:22-23.
